Silver Springs State Park Wedding | Ocala, FL

FILED IN: Wedding

Phillip and Dori were married at the beautiful Silver Springs State Park! After their Rainbow Springs engagement session, it kind of feels like state parks are our thing 😉 This was my first time at Silver Springs however, and I was pleasantly surprised by the grand entrance which included tall cypress trees and a long boardwalk that led to a cute assembly of food/gift shops. While Dori finished getting ready, I took all of her details to get started. Everything was beautiful, but my favorite piece was a vintage handkerchief that was first Phillips grandmother, handed down to his mother and then finally to Dori to be used on her wedding day. Sparkly diamonds and pretty bouquets are always fun to photograph, but I just love sentimental pieces with a story behind them!

The ceremony took place in the garden area underneath a canopy of tall trees. Dori walked down the aisle in a blue ombre dress she designed herself (love it!)! With her blue dress, bright blonde hair and the sound of birds all around us, she reminded me so much of Cinderella! Phillip looked on her with the most loving eyes and the two exchanged hand-written vows under a white flowery alter and it was nothing short of a fairy tale.

Then came my favorite part of the day- husband and wife portraits!!! We wandered around in the natural beauty of the park, stopping at quaint wooden brides, leafy covered arbors and (my personal favorite) flowery trees and bushes! 😍  There is a Silver Springs “legend” of sorts, that says whoever takes their picture standing in the middle of the horse-shoe shaped palm tree will have 5 years good luck! We took some of their final portraits there, standing in the middle of the windey palm just as the sun was starting to tuck behind the distant tree line. And although it was absolutely beautiful, the truth is, I don’t think they’ll need the luck 😉

Phillip and Dori, thank you so much for choosing me as your wedding photographer! You are some of the kindest, most generous people I have had the pleasure of meeting. While you may not need luck, I wish you many years of love and happiness ahead!!! ❤

Phillip’s grandmother’s handkerchief… I wanted to really capture the beauty in this detail. So special!!!!

Just before the ceremony Phillip was handed an envelope from Dori that included a sweet letter, some remnants of the blue wedding dress she had personally designed, and the instructions to keep it in his pocket to wear at the alter. How sweet!!! 😭❤
