In the days leading up to the wedding March 16, 2019 forecasted lots of rain. But thankfully, the cloudy grey sky that came that day was without rain. Instead, it blanketed the entire ceremony area in soft even light and that perfect early-spring temperature (not too hot and not too cold). Wes and Katie stood in a grassy formed basin underneath the dense canopy of oak trees. Surrounded by a sea of white chairs and the faces of the friends and family they loved most… they exchanged the words, “I do”. They said yes to sickness and health, to creating a home and raising babies together. Little did everyone know just how soon they would be living out those vows.
The reception was held underneath a giant pavilion, open to outside air, letting in the wonderful smell and fresh feel of spring. Guests sat at picnic tables decorated with hand-cut wood centerpieces, fresh flowers and greenery. Wes and Katie shared their first dance beneath the vaulted wood ceiling and warm twinkling lights. Dinner was served, the cake was cut and eventually people wandered out on the dance floor to enjoy the country music. But the most memorable part of the night came when Wes and Katie sat down to play the boot game. They were asked all of the typical questions like “Who’s the better driver?” or “Who’s more patient?” when a very specific question took the crowd by surprise. “Who is expecting a baby in October?” They both had the biggest smile on their face as they lifted their boots high into the air. Everyone screamed in excitement !!! Some people clapped and tossed their hands into the air, while others had tears in their eyes and waited patiently to congratulate the new expecting parents. It was a moment full of so much JOY.
Wes and Katie – I am so thankful to have met you both! Your love is so raw and genuine… It has been my honor to have been a part of what will always be one of the most special days of your life! I have no doubt that you have many years of happy marriage ahead of you and that you will make the very best of parents! So, so incredibly happy for you ❤️
