The first time I sat down with Phillip and Dori I knew they were two really special people. They live in downtown Ocala together and own the En Garde Fencing club there. Phillip is firm, yet calm mannered. He has been fencing for over 20 years and now spends his time coaching people of all ages, both children and adults, in the skill and discipline of his beloved sport. Dori has a warm, bubbly personality that has a way of always making you feel welcome. And the two complimented each other perfectly. Shortly after talking with them, I was so happy to find that we share in a mutual love for nature. The two of them love Florida and it’s natural scenery, and for that reason will be married at Silver Springs State Park! I have never been to that particular park before, so I am so excited for their wedding day and to capture all the natural beauty there!
So, I’m sure it comes as no surprise to hear they chose to do their engagement session at Rainbow Springs State Park! A beautiful park with almost 1,500 acres of land, beautiful springs and an interesting history. It actually started as a privately owned park in the 1930s complete with waterfalls, monorails and even a zoo! Eventually development of the roadways and modern theme parks led to it’s demise and the park was closed in 1974. But Rainbow Springs was then reopened in 1990 as a state park. It now flourishes as a natural Florida attraction where you can swim, kayak or even float on tubes down the beautiful spring fed river. If you have never been there before, trust me, you won’t want to miss this Florida gem 😉
