I first met Lashay at a local fast food restaurant in our small little town where, true to her nature, she struck up a conversation and was very friendly and outgoing. We both had daughters around the same age and she invited me to a local church event. We kept in touch here and there… but it wasn’t until a couple of years later when our girls (coincidentally) started school together that I felt I truly got to know who Lashay is. Through early morning drop offs and conversations at the school playground after we pick the girls up in the afternoon… I have discovered a fun, exuberant God-fearing woman that I am thankful to call “friend”. So when she came to me after she got engaged, and asked me to photograph her wedding day, It couldn’t have come as a greater privilege.
Fast forward to the end of March and the day was finally here!!! I pulled up to the the Manor house where Lashay and her bridesmaid were getting ready and was welcomed by acres of horse pasture and a clear blue sky. Inside, all of the girls looked stunning in their silk robes, but Lashay stood out in all white. A beautiful bride. Glowing in the excitement of what the day would soon bring. We stepped out on the wrap around porch to take some fun getting ready photos. Lashay looked like a true southern princess surrounded by the dusty blue dresses of her bridesmaids and the thin white railing of the porch. Now that she had slipped on her shoes, jewelry put on and dress all zipped up… all that was left to do was meet her soon to be husband at the alter.
Lashay pulled up to the ceremony in Kevin’s beloved Range Rover (so sweet). She stepped out of the vintage white vehicle onto the grassy lawn and all eyes were on her. She started her walk down the aisle underneath the speckled light of the oak trees hovering above. Kevin’s smile traveled all the way up to his eyes… and you could feel how much he loved her just by the way he looked upon her coming towards him. The two of them finally met together underneath a vintage chandelier hanging from the tree limbs and were framed by a simple wooden arbor. They stood hand and hand and exchanged their vows, shared their first kiss and then turned towards the crowd to be introduced. for the first time ever, as “Mr. and Mrs. Scott” !!!!
The ceremony was followed by sunset portraits, dinner and dancing. The whole day was beautiful but my most favorite part had to be during the first dance, when Lashay’s daughter ran up into the middle of it, and they finished the remainder of the dance together as a family of three. 😢❤️ It made my heart so happy to see little 3-year-old Milena climb so unapologetically into their arms… as if there wasn’t a single doubt in her mind where she belonged.❤️
Kevin and Lashay, I am so incredibly happy for the both of you! I’m so thankful to have been a part of your day and it has been such an honor to give you these photos! I hope you will be able to look back on them and cherish for years to come! ❤️❤️❤️
